Automated salt spreading
Intelligent, automated salt spreading with voice activated navigation allows drivers to focus completely on driving.
Optimise your winter resource planning through our powerful reporting function which provides vital statistics from your gritting fleet to match your specific targets, including cost reduction and resource allocation.
Data on route efficiencies, service distance, and estimated salt and fuel usage can all used to provide accurate forecasting to deliver significant cost savings and help manage winter budgets. On-board weighing software provides real-time vehicle weight information and is used to calculate the net amount of salt spread along an individual route through detailed salt usage and efficiency reports.
No matter what the weather during the winter season, local authorities have a responsibility to keep roads – and drivers on the roads – safe. But it’s not just the public who need to be protected.
Our winter maintenance package ensures gritter driver safety by using voice activated instructions to guide drivers round routes and fully automating gritter spreading controls while the gritter drives the route – allowing drivers to focus solely on driving in dark and dangerous conditions.
Back at the depot, live exception reporting tracks and monitors gritters in real-time, alerting the depot if a driver stops for any length of time or deviates from a route, providing an added layer of reassurance that your gritter drivers are safe.
Make sure you’re protected in the face of the general public’s increasing claim mentality against local authorities for failing to treat certain road sections during winter.
Our vehicle tracking data is displayed as colour coded snail trails within the system to confirm the salt distribution on gritting routes, including the spread width and net weight of the salt deployed. While real-time video capture equipment allows you to review incidents immediately, rather than wait for the gritter to return to the depot to investigate.
All tracking data is archived within the software for 21 years, longer than any other provider on the market, and can be used to prove in legal proceedings that the gritter actually treated defined sections of the road, at the correct salting settings against designated routes.
With community engagement forming a key part of local service delivery, ‘Where is my Gritter?’ provides local authorities with a reliable portal to communicate key winter service information with the general public.
The site provides the public with a convenient place to access information about the treatment of their local roads. Live tracking data from gritting vehicles is sent to the ‘Where is my Gritter?’ web portal via an API*, allowing the public to watch in real time as gritting vehicles make their way around their designated gritting routes.
This is especially engaging if the gritting fleet has been named by the public!
As well as offering a best practice way to deliver service information, the site reduces administration, as local authorities can link to it from their website or social media accounts, rather than having to repeat the same information across many different channels.
*Live vehicle tracking data can also be exported via other APIs
