Exactrak Announces Exclusivity Deal with ECON Engineering
Exactrak has agreed an exclusivity deal with ECON Engineering, the UK leaders in the manufacture and supply of gritting vehicles.
The deal will ensure that all future gritters manufactured at Econ’s Ripon factory are fitted with the Exactrak system, which combines vehicle tracking telematics with intelligent automated salt spreading technology.
Econ and Exactrak have a long standing relationship, working together for the past 20 years, but the new deal marks the first time Exactrak has been the exclusive supplier for Econ’s vehicles.
Combining route mapping software with driver navigation, the solution is designed to allow all drivers to navigate any given route, giving local authorities the ability to share human resource and make the job of gritter drivers easier and safer. The cab-fitted mapping system also automates the salt spreading, which can reduce salt use by up to 15%.
Utilising the technology alongside the ability to meticulously plan gritting routes will mean salt stocks can also be optimised and accurately forecasted with detailed usage and efficiency reports.
Econ Engineering Managing Director, Jonathan Lupton, said: “We have a strong and long standing partnership with Exactrak but this exclusivity agreement will enable us to continue delivering winter maintenance vehicles with the very latest in telematic technology.
“It will not only make the role of a gritter driver much safer, but it will also provide our customers with a more efficient and reliable way to ensure cost-effective route management.”
Exactrak General Manager, Andy Fox, added: “Our exclusivity partnership with Econ is the result of our longstanding relationship and a combined vision for the future of the winter maintenance industry, and we are delighted to be working exclusively with them to ensure we continue to grow and develop our products together.
“Combining key features from our vehicle tracking, navigation and route management solutions with intelligent automated salt spreading technology, our winter maintenance package has been specifically designed and built for the winter service industry.”
Based in North Yorkshire, family-run Econ Engineering is the UKs leading manufacturer of winter maintenance vehicles, supplying 85% of the nation’s gritters. It recently delivered the first ever fully electric model, the E-QCB.
